Getting a crew in and out of Lower Salford / Mainland without disrupting anyone starts with knowing the building stock. Lower Salford / Mainland is the township that surrounds Harleysville itself — a mix of corporate parks, medical offices and long-established small businesses along Forty Foot Rd, and that mix means the route, the parking plan and the equipment we bring can look different from one stop to the next, even within the same town.
About Lower Salford / Mainland: History & Character
Lower Salford Township was carved out of the original Salford Township in March 1741, when local landowner Jacob Reiff petitioned to split it into four — Lower Salford, Upper Salford, Marlborough and Franconia. The farmers who settled it in the early 1700s were German, Swiss and Dutch, and Pennsylvania Dutch was the everyday language here well into the 1900s. Mainland itself, where a lot of our own clients sit, is one of four villages inside the township (with Harleysville, Lederach and Vernfield) — it's never had its own separate government, and honestly there isn't much written specifically about the crossroads itself beyond its location at Mainland Road and Store Road, just off Route 63.
The township runs about 14.4 square miles and is drained by the East Branch Perkiomen Creek and Skippack Creek. Its population has grown steadily and sat at 15,896 at the 2020 census, up from under 2,000 residents in 1930 — a good illustration of how much this whole corridor has filled in since Harleysville was mostly farmland.
Heckler Plains, a 36-acre farmstead park with an 1761 barn and 1780 bake oven, was once the home of Civil War general Winfield Scott Hancock, and it's a genuine piece of local history rather than a marketing footnote. The Dielman Kolb Homestead dates to 1717. The Mennonite Heritage Center hosts the well-known Apple Butter Frolic every fall, and the township maintains a dozen parks under its open-space program. Drew Lewis — U.S. Secretary of Transportation under President Reagan and later CEO of Union Pacific — grew up in the area.
Souderton Area School District serves Mainland and the rest of the township, with Oak Ridge and Vernfield elementary schools and Indian Valley Middle School nearby. The township's list of notable natives is longer than you'd expect for its size — radio host Preston Elliot and former Pennsylvania Solicitor General Bruce Castor both have ties here, alongside a public mural on Main Street depicting Harleysville-area history.
Lower Salford is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors elected at large to six-year terms, currently chaired by Keith Bergman. Beyond its historic sites, the township owns and operates the Lederach Golf Club, a public, par-71, 18-hole course that opened in 2006 as one of its recreational amenities alongside its dozen parks. Census figures show the township is about 91 percent white with small Asian and Black populations, and a median age of 35. The township maintains roughly 80 miles of local roads, and while Interstate 476 clips its eastern corner, the nearest interchange sits just over the line in neighboring Towamencin.

How We Work in Lower Salford / Mainland
We run our own 13-person crew — never subcontractors — so the same people learn your building, your alarm codes and your pet peeves over time. Near Harleysville Pike and Forty Foot Rd, that consistency matters: a crew that already knows where the breaker panel is and which door sticks moves faster and leaves less to chance.
Most of the offices we clean in Montgomery County run somewhere between 2,000 and 40,000 square feet, on a daily-to-weekly schedule set around when your last person leaves for the night. We plan Lower Salford / Mainland stops so the truck parks once and the whole visit runs off that one spot, rather than shuttling gear back and forth.
Local Access, Planned Ahead
We confirm parking, entry codes and alarm procedures for every Lower Salford building before the first visit, not during it. If a building has a loading dock, a single unlocked door, or a strict after-hours sign-in, that gets written down and followed every time.
Mixed Building Types
Lower Salford / Mainland isn't one kind of building — storefronts, professional suites, medical offices and corporate space all sit within a few minutes of each other. We staff and price each job by what it actually is, not by a one-size-fits-all rate.
Same Crew, Every Visit
The people who clean your Lower Salford office the first week are the same people who clean it the fiftieth. That continuity matters more in a place like this — the township that surrounds Harleysville itself — a mix of corporate parks, medical offices and long-established small businesses along Forty Foot Rd — where a substitute crew would spend its first month just relearning the building. Small problems, a jammed door, a leaking fixture, get caught and reported before they become expensive ones.
