Getting a crew in and out of North Wales without disrupting anyone starts with knowing the building stock. North Wales is a small walkable borough next to the larger Montgomeryville commercial corridor, and that mix means the route, the parking plan and the equipment we bring can look different from one stop to the next, even within the same town.

About North Wales: History & Character

North Wales began as part of a 1702 William Penn land grant to Welsh Quaker settlers, who called the surrounding area "Gwynedd" after their home region in Wales. Growth really took off once the North Pennsylvania Railroad came through in the 1850s, and the borough incorporated in 1869 — carved out of Upper Gwynedd Township. It's worth noting North Wales was the first borough incorporated by Montgomery County's own courts rather than the state, which also makes it the oldest borough in what people call the North Penn Valley. Main Street itself started life in 1728 as "the Great Road" and later became a tolled turnpike until 1914.

At just 0.59 square miles, North Wales is one of the smallest boroughs in our whole service area, and one of the most densely built — the 2020 census counted 3,426 residents packed into that little footprint, entirely surrounded by Upper Gwynedd Township. Unlike most of the towns on this list, North Wales is a fully independent, self-governing borough rather than a village inside a township.

The borough's Idlewilde mansion once hosted Emperor Pedro II of Brazil during his 1875 tour of the United States with President Grant. The North Wales Historic Preservation District, established in 2000, was the first historic district among the North Penn boroughs, and the borough's old brick SEPTA station on the Lansdale/Doylestown line was restored in 2010. North Wales is also home to the first deaf mayor elected anywhere in the United States, and John Oates of Hall & Oates grew up here.

Six small borough parks — Weingartner, Wee Wailers, and the Second, Fourth, Eighth and Ninth Street parks — give a borough this compact more green space than you'd expect. Painter William B.T. Trego, whose historical work still hangs at Valley Forge National Historical Park, and professional poker champion Joe McKeehen both have North Wales roots.

North Wales elected Neil McDevitt as its mayor — the same McDevitt who made history as the first deaf person elected mayor of any municipality in the United States — and the borough runs today under a council-manager system with a nine-member council led by council president Sal Amato. Its small police department, eight officers in all, four full-time and four part-time, has been led by Chief David Erenius since 2022. The 2020 census counted 3,426 residents across 1,312 households, 48.7% of them married-couple homes, with a median household income of $54,605 and a poverty rate of 4.7% overall. Beyond John Oates and painter William B.T. Trego, the borough's list of notable residents includes prank-call personality Captain Janks and television personality Sharon Little. St. Rose of Lima, the borough's Catholic parish school, merged with St. Stanislaus in nearby Lansdale in 2012. SEPTA's Route 96 bus connects North Wales to Norristown and Lansdale, supplementing the restored 1870s train station on the Lansdale/Doylestown line, while PECO Energy and the North Wales Water Authority handle utilities for the borough's compact 0.59 square miles.

How We Work in North Wales

We run our own 13-person crew — never subcontractors — so the same people learn your building, your alarm codes and your pet peeves over time. Near Sumneytown Pike and Swedesford Rd, that consistency matters: a crew that already knows where the breaker panel is and which door sticks moves faster and leaves less to chance.

Most of the offices we clean in Montgomery County run somewhere between 2,000 and 40,000 square feet, on a daily-to-weekly schedule set around when your last person leaves for the night. We plan North Wales stops so the truck parks once and the whole visit runs off that one spot, rather than shuttling gear back and forth.

Local Access, Planned Ahead

We confirm parking, entry codes and alarm procedures for every North Wales building before the first visit, not during it. If a building has a loading dock, a single unlocked door, or a strict after-hours sign-in, that gets written down and followed every time.

Mixed Building Types

North Wales isn't one kind of building — storefronts, professional suites, medical offices and corporate space all sit within a few minutes of each other. We staff and price each job by what it actually is, not by a one-size-fits-all rate.

Same Crew, Every Visit

The people who clean your North Wales office the first week are the same people who clean it the fiftieth. That continuity matters more in a place like this — a small walkable borough next to the larger Montgomeryville commercial corridor — where a substitute crew would spend its first month just relearning the building. Small problems, a jammed door, a leaking fixture, get caught and reported before they become expensive ones.

We utilize Carfagno Commercial Cleaning for our daycare, and have been so pleased with the service we receive. After years of a mediocre cleaning company that did the bare minimum (if that), Ken's service has been personalized to the needs of our facility, and his team does a thorough job of keeping our facility clean and sanitary. Ken's team does such a great job, we hardly even know they're here…in a good way!

We have been working with Carfagno Commercial Cleaning for almost a year. Ken is very responsive and easy to work with to make sure our cleaning needs are met. We had an issue with hazy floors which Ken researched and took extra time to address in order to rectify. Carfagno follows the lawyer rule of not touching/moving anything when cleaning desks, we appreciate this respectful approach.

We LOVE C3 cleaning! I cannot say enough amazing things about Rhonda who cleans our office - she is truly a miracle worker. Our office is always immaculate and the feeling of stepping into a fresh, clean office on Mondays is almost enough to take away the sucky Monday feeling! Ken Carfagno and his team are professional, thorough and most importantly caring.

C3 carries $2,000,000 aggregate general liability through Erie Insurance, screens every team member through KnowMyHire, and holds a 5.0 rating across 41 Google reviews. Do you require a long-term contract for a North Wales office?

No. Our agreements include a terminate-at-any-time clause. We are about 7 miles southeast of Harleysville, and we earn the work weekly rather than locking anyone into a term. Our word and our work are the contract.

What does office cleaning cost in North Wales?

Most monthly commercial cleaning runs $700 to $5,000 depending on size, scope and frequency. We quote after walking your building, never over the phone from a square-footage guess, and you get options rather than one number.

How fast can you reach a North Wales building in an emergency?

On site within 3 hours, 24/7, for small leaks, toilet overflows and carpet or floor extraction. North Wales sits about 7 miles southeast of our Harleysville base — roughly 13 to 25 minutes via Sumneytown Pike and Swedesford Rd — so an overnight call gets a crew that's already local, not one dispatched from another county at shift change.

Are your cleaners insured and background checked before entering a North Wales office?

Yes. Every team member clears KnowMyHire screening before they hold a key. We carry Erie Insurance general liability at $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, plus workers compensation at $100,000 per accident with a $500,000 limit, and we provide certificates at onboarding.

What's North Wales like, and how far is it from your Harleysville base?

North Wales began as part of a 1702 William Penn land grant to Welsh Quaker settlers, who called the surrounding area "Gwynedd" after their home region in Wales. It's about 7 miles southeast of Harleysville — roughly 13 to 25 minutes via Sumneytown Pike and Swedesford Rd — which puts it well inside our regular Montgomery County route rather than at the edge of it.
